Use of Machine Learning in Academic Predictions

A Great career without a Great Education is just a DREAM. While we talk about career – a person’s degree, specialization, College/University and the knowledge that he possesses – are the key factors on which the firm hires a fresher. In India the educational pattern is 10+2+3+2 or 10+2+4+2 or 10+2+5.5 & career related decisions are discussed after 10th standard and mostly concluded after 12th. As soon as a student completes his/her Higher Secondary Schooling, the first goal of any student is to get into an appropriate College/University for appropriate course/program so that he can get a better education, guidance & placement for his future.  Selecting the right branch and college is extremely important in the case of career in Engineering & Technoogy. In fact, it is as important as selecting a career. This is the place where ML played vital role.

The main aim of every academia enthusiast is placement in a reputed MNC’s and even the reputation and every year admission of Institute depends upon placement that it provides to their students. So, any system that will predict the placements of the students will be a positive impact on an institute and increase strength and decreases some workload of any institute’s training and placement office (TPO). Weak students also get to know in advance to improve their performance from placement point of view. With the help of Machine Learning techniques, the knowledge can be extracted from past placed students and placement of upcoming students can be predicted

The right course/program and college can take a student towards success whereas, one wrong decision can lead to downfall. Hence to achieve these objectives Machine Learning plays very vital roles as compaired to traditional Statistical Methods.
